The exhibition celebrates the long career of
the versatile sculptor and jewellery designer.

Known internationally for his
jewellery, Björn Weckström (b. 1935) expanded
his interest towards sculpture in the 1970s. The exhibition presents sculptures made of acrylic, bronze, stone and glass.
Working in Italy for extensive periods has
greatly influenced the artist. In Weckstöm’s
artworks Classical myths meet contemporary
scientific advances and fantasies – conquering
space, genetic manipulation and the mechanical
revolution. In the exhibition the large, glossy
bronze sculptures of the 1980s and 90s –
machine men – are like a vision from the future
winged by technological development.
The exhibition also showcases oil paintings on
sailcloth, which combine visual arts with sailing
– another vocation of Weckström’s.
