The city of Helsinki, the University of Helsinki, Aalto University and the Helsinki Region Chamber of Commerce are organizing an open competition for students! The main prize of the competition is € 15,000 and the second prize is € 6,000 and the third prize is € 4,000.
You are warmly welcome to the competition’s opening ceremony at Helsinki Design Week’s main venue, Merikortteli, on 13 September from 12pm to 2pm.
Guests are offered a light lunch.

Aimed at multidisciplinary student groups, the goal of the competition is to find inspiring proposals that support Helsinki’s strategic goals for the development of the city center. The competition seeks new views and ideas about the role of the city center and its strengths and development areas.
At the opening ceremony, the background and objective of the student competition will be explained in detail. The schedule and rules of the competition, as well as the technical instructions, will be briefly explained. The event will also open a discussion about the vitality and uniqueness of the city center of Helsinki. After the discussion, you are welcome to visit Helsinki Design Week’s main exhibition.
