BLOOM Youth Exhibition 

BLOOM is Lokal’s annual youth exhibition, which features the works of artists and designers under the age of 30. The participants are students of the following schools: the School of Arts and Design at Aalto University and the Institute of Design and Fine Arts at Lahti University of Applied Sciences. The exhibition will be held for the fifth time this year.

Jasper Morrison – Objects and Atmosphere 

The exhibition of renowned British designer Jasper Morrison sheds light on his design philosophy by showcasing objects he has curated and through a video piece called ‘A World Without Words’.  Morrison is especially interested in those everyday objects that continue to serve their purpose well even though they have often been created by an anonymous designers.

Helsinki Clubbing – 30 Years of Smoke and Strobe 

The Exhibition is a tribute to the clubbing culture of Helsinki. It presents the classics of Helsinki clubs from the late 1980s to the modern day. Visitors to the museum have a chance to experience Helsinki club culture through videos, photos, posters and flyers and, of course, music.

Random Walk Scarves Exhibition and Popups 

For two days in Hietsun Paviljonki, surrounded by the beautiful nature, Random Walk will put on an exhibition to showcase a series of never-displayed original artworks alongside purchasable printed and knitted scarves, whose patterns come directly from these artworks. During the exhibition, each day at a different hour there will be workshops and performances. During the exhibition and workshops, there will be experimental music performances and a pop-up shop.

éN Hats Factory Grand Opening 

The new hat brand ÈN celebrates the opening of its hat factory and factory outlet at Korkeavuodenkatu’s factory milieu. Open doors at noon-3 pm. By invitation only at 5-8 pm.

Artek x Forbo Linoleum x Aalto-yliopisto 

Artek and Forbo Linoleum invited Aalto University’s Master’s Degree Programme in Furniture Design students to experiment with wood and linoleum. Under the theme of Hospitality, the future designers have been challenged to create products that express what hospitality and hosting is all about: trust, generosity and goodwill. The Artek Helsinki store will host an exhibition to showcase the results of this brief to Aalto University students.

Fiskars Summer House 

The Fiskars Summer House Exhibition presents the visions of nine designers: all the designers have chosen an artist they admire and designed a room for him or her. The interiors of these rooms will include a versatile selection of furniture from the chosen designers as well from local designers and design companies based in Fiskars.

EMOVEO – Movements in Contemporary Design

During Helsinki Design Week, the museum yard of the Museum of Finnish Architecture and the Design Museum will host an exhibition about movements in contemporary design from young makers’ points of view: the exhibition will showcase the works of twelve different Aalto University’s MA Design students with 12 different nationalities. The designers themselves will also work as guides during the exhibition.
