Fiskars Village Art & Design Biennale filled the summer ironworks with friends and surprise guests

The third edition of the Fiskars Village Art & Design Biennale concluded on Sunday. The biennale opened early in the summer before the Midsummer holiday, with warmth and sunshine lasting until the closing day. The two main exhibitions attracted an audience enthusiastic about culture to the ironworks, and the diverse Parallel Programme proved that art is alive and thriving in Raasepori.

The Fiskars Village Art & Design Biennale combined the local creative community,  international artists and the top expertise of Finnish design in its programme. The Fragile exhibition, celebrating the 30th anniversary of the artist cooperative Onoma, highlighted local creative talents, while Luovi Productions’ “Surprise Guest” exhibition stretched the boundaries of art and design. The Biennale Shop, open for the first time, also proved to be a summer hit. The organizers’ visitor target was met, with 17,000 visitors attending the biennale.

“A summer filled with celebrations reminded us not only of the importance of gathering for art but also of the value of culture in today’s uncertain world. We are happy and grateful for every artist and designer, curator and partner, producer and builder, and every visitor to the biennale,” state Matleena Kalajoki, Executive Director of the artist cooperative Onoma, and Anni Korkman, Programme Director of Luovi Productions.

Founded as a collaborative project, the Fiskars Village Art & Design Biennale will be held again in the summer of 2026. The original idea of a major cultural event combining design and art has come to fruition through joining in close cooperation and sharing strengths and resources. Planning for the next biennale’s programme has already begun.

The main partner of the Fiskars Village Art & Design Biennale is Fiskars Group, celebrating its 375th anniversary. More details about the biennial can be found here.
