My Week: Swedish Girls

One of Helsinki Design Weekly’s  missions is to support both the local and international design community all year round. The My Week series presents the everyday life of creatives through their own lens. This time, we get a sneak peek into Swedish Girls’s week.

Swedish Girls is an artist duo consisting of Mira Bergh (b. 1993) and Josefin Zachrisson (b. 1994), based between Stockholm and Milan. Since 2019, they’ve developed a practice across art, design and architecture. Rooted in a design methodology, their work involves installation, objects, performance, and spatial environments.

Most recently, and as you can see documented, they’ve participated in MEGA Art Fair during Milan Art Week 2026 and hijacked Milan Design Week 2026 with their project Swedish Girls Week at Section80Bar in Milan. Ahead is their debut in Venice for the 61st International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia.

Follow Swedish Girls’ diary from Milan over seven days!

Day 1

Traveled Stockholm to Milan, so happy to be back :’)

Day 2

Installing “Another Fountain” in MEGA Art Fair for Milan Art Week. Lots of pieces to unpack and screw together!

Day 3

We’re launching a new issue of our gossip magazine “SWEDISH GIRLS!” and here we had just picked it up from print, buy it via swedishgirls.org 😉

Day 4

We made a lamp together with Gnilmyd Kcab and we didn’t have time to ship it so Josefin’s sister traveled with them to Milan <3 Couldn’t wait to see so we unpacked it on the street.

Day 5

Second day of installing, this time for Swedish Girls Week at Swection80Bar. In the end of 2024 we did a residency at ViaFarini Org across the street from Section80Bar and it became our favourite bar. Already back then we started talking about doing something together and the stars aligned for Milan Design Week 2026. Basically we were like ”should we do an event?” and they were like ”let’s do the full week” and we were like ”wohoo Swedish Girls Week”!!

Day 6

We had a party and it was sooo fun!

Day 7

Off to Venice and the third day of installing, this time a new very long bench we’ve made for the Biennale. Our work is part of the exhibition “If All Time Is Eternally Present” and opens on the 6th of May 🙂
