Crafted Connections is a Franco-Finnish design residency programme developed by the French Institute in Finland to strengthen creative collaboration between the two countries. The initiative builds bridges between the French and Finnish design scenes by bringing together designers to work within a shared theme and process. During the residency, French and Finnish artists form working pairs and develop new pieces through dialogue, experimentation, and collective research. The process is rooted in mutual learning, where participants exchange skills, techniques, and perspectives, blending traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design approaches. The project highlights the long-term cultural collaboration between France and Finland and reinforces connections within the field of contemporary design. At the same time, it offers audiences the opportunity to engage with the creative process through an exhibition, events, and encounters with the designers. Crafted Connections is not only about the final outcome, but about an evolving collaborative journey where ideas, people, and cultures come together to create something new.

The French Institute of Finland is a cultural center located in Helsinki that promotes relations between France and Finland in the fields of culture, science, and language cooperation.
