Satelite Event: VR Customer Point – design at the heart of the travel experience
Welcome to VR’s open event at our new Customer Point at Helsinki Central Railway Station, as part of Helsinki Design Week! At the event, we will introduce our design team and share how we work. We will also highlight some of our key achievements from recent years — from developing customer journeys to launching new rolling stock. The event includes an interactive part where visitors can contribute to shaping the future of the train travel experience. In recent years, VR has systematically invested in customer-centric design, which is reflected in our excellent customer satisfaction results. Our work has also received external recognition, including the “Brand of the Year 2026” award by the Finland Chamber of Commerce, as well as honorary mentions in service design and branding. Whether you are a design professional, a student, or simply interested in how design shapes everyday travel, you are warmly welcome to explore, learn and engage with us. VR’s new Customer Point is also a concrete example of our design work and its outcomes. We encourage you to visit the space throughout Design Week. The Customer Point has been designed in close collaboration with both customers and staff. Going forward, it will also serve as a platform for service development: visitors can participate in customer panels and surveys, and influence the future of VR’s services. The concept of the space is inspired by the movement of travel: the interior design and soundscape reflect passing landscapes, Finnish nature, and the changing seasons — as well as the sense of freedom that travel brings. At the Customer Point, customers are not served from behind a traditional counter; instead, staff meet them face-to-face while moving within the space.
