Continuous piloting is common to Helsinki. The pilots seek solutions to the neighbourhoods challenges. In Malmi piloting has been linked to suburban regeneration and has been driving the neighbourhoods vitality, attractiveness, quality and accessibility of services as well as improvements to functionality or repairs.

Forum Virium Helsinki organises a Piloting Day in Malmi. The Piloting Day showcases different pilots led by Forum Virium Helsinki, several urban development projects in Malmi as well as offers the possibility to participate in small scale pilots on site.

During the trial day, you will get the opportunity to dive under the surface of Forum Virium Helsinki’s smart city projects, which support the mobility and well-being of residents, introduce new methods for integrating green infrastructure into urban spaces, and promote biodiversity and the restoration of local nature.

13:00 – 19:00 Idea Clinic – Come to Forum Virium Helsinki’s experimentation consultation and test your ideas.
13:00 – 19:00 Explore the gadgets in the gadget gallery.
13:00 – 19:00 Join the Malmi Piloting Pioneers (Kokeilujoukot).
15:00 – 19:00 Build your dream Longinoja Park with Legos.
16:00 – 17:30 Recycled Bark Boat Race – Build a bark boat from recycled materials and compete in the Ala-Malmi Regatta.
17:00 – 18:00 Baton Walk for Malmi Residents – Take a baton for a walk and report any development needs you observe in your surroundings.
18:00 – 19:00 Meet the water temperature sensors and adopt an UiRaS sensor.
