Open call for Helsinki Design Week programme 2016 is still open for a month.
All kinds of events are welcome: you can propose an exhibition, an opening party, a fashion show, an open studio, a seminar – or something totally different. Helsinki Design Week is a multidisciplinary festival, so the event can be related to any field of design.
Be inspired by the festival’s theme. The theme for 2016 is “Better”. What justifies us to design more when the world is full of stuff? The festival programme takes a look at how to do and design things better. We want to place the focus on quality, the basis for making better design.
Artist had a great experience
Many first-timers join the programme every year. So did an artist and designer of many awards Teemu Järvi last year.
He had an exhibiton as a part of the main exhibition during the Helsinki Design Week 2015 and was very happy about the experience.
“If you have an exhibition in Finland, you should have it during the Helsinki Design Week when people are already out there. And you have a chance to get international attention too”, Järvi says.
At his exhibition he focused on the artistic process and displayed his artwork. He also joined Design Market and Habitare.
He has done his career in the fields of design and architecture, but has decided to specialize in wilderness themes, art and illustrations.
“I got new contacts, attention and näkyvyyttä ja laajemman wider retail network, which is excatly what I was looking for. I was very happy about the experience”, he says,
