Carl Eldh Studio Museum

Carl Eldh was a Swedish sculptor whose work is presented all over the city. His studio is located on the edge of the city near the Bellevueparken park. It boasts an awesome atmosphere: a huge wall-size window lets in the light to the room filled with sculptures, prints and small details. There is an inviting outdoor cafe next to the museum.

Opening hours: June to August Tuesday to Sunday from 12 to 4 pm; April & October Sunday from 12 to 4 pm; May & September Thursday to Sunday from 12 to 4 pm.

The museum offers guided tours only during the opening hours in Swedish at 12, 1 and 3 pm and in English at 1.30 pm.

Usine

Located in a renovated sausage factory, this restaurant was opened to the public in April 2015. Its bistro section serves lunch and dinner, in the spirit of Swedish classics and French cuisine. Another section of the restaurant is called Poche 36 Tapas and serves – surprise, surprise – tapas.

Pom & Flora

The first Pom & Flora cafe in Södermalm quickly became one of the most popular cafes in the city. The owners have now opened their second cafe in Vasastan. If the new cafe is equally popular, people will be queuing to enjoy its avocado sandwiches and great coffee on Saturday mornings. Interior designers Emma Olbers and Maja Lindahl have created the look for the cafe on the Odengatan street.

Dusty Deco

A collection of vintage furniture was first turned into a pop-up store, then into a regular retail store. In addition to classics, the store encompasses unique finds from around the world as well as industrial furniture and interior decoration items. Dusty Deco also hosts an online store.

Asplund

Brothers Thomas and Michael Asplund founded the Asplund Gallery in 1990. Three years later their first furniture collection was launched for sale. Over the years, Asplund has cooperated with the tope names of modern design including Tom Dixon and Jasper Morrisson. Their style is sleekly Scandinavian.

Haymarket by Scandic

In the 1920s, Greta Garbo started her working career in the hat department of the trendy Pub department store in Stockholm. A few years ago, Pub was closed and the building was transformed into a hotel. To honour the history of the property, the Haymarket by Scandic has been decorated in the spirit of art deco, and one of the hotel restaurants, Gretas, is a perfect place to have a morning coffee or cocktails even if you are not staying in the hotel.

Fablab

This little store located in Södermalm carries carefully selected cosmetics and small household items. It is run by stylist and production designer Johan Svenson who has previously worked with several Swedish fashion magazines and brands.

Sven-Harry’s Art Museum

A large golden building by the park in Vasastan; its six floors house two floors of temporary exhibitions, a restaurant, a store, apartments, and on the top, a few rooms that are an exact replica of art collector Sven-Harry Karlsson’s mansion home. The roof is surrounded by a terrace with a large collection of sculptures that are part of the permanent exhibition. The architecture of the building and particularly the terrace as such are worth a visit.

Broms Karlaplan

Located in the heart of Östermalm, Broms Karlaplan is open from early morning to late evening. The restaurant features its own bakery and deli for take away treats.

Bodil Vintage

The Bodil Vintage store is located in the Midsommarkrans area south of Södermalm. It is a lovely area worth the short trip on the metro and by foot. The area houses several little stores and cafes as well as Konstfack, the number-one art and design institute in Stockholm. Bodil Vintage features a small collection of clothing and a larger collection of furniture, mainly from the 1950s and 1960s.
