HejHylje!

HejHylje! is a series of 40 unique artworks created by 40 Finnish artists for the benefit of the Baltic Sea and for residents and visitors to enjoy. The two-metre tall seal statues will arrive in Senate Square on Helsinki Day, after which they will appear throughout the city to remind people of the importance of protecting the Baltic Sea. In September at Helsinki Design Week the statues gather again in front of the Clarion Hotel.

Fill Up Empty Bowls – Together 2017

Invited immigrant artists decorate in blue and white 100 ceramic bowls donated by Eva Spoof / Udumbara especially for this event.

This event will take place during Helsinki day on 11 and 12 June with the aim of highlighting the themes of working together and living together, as well as working in handicrafts and art in our common urban environment, in Kallio, at Studio Udumbara. The artists can decorate in blue and white the bowls made at Udumbara out of red clay from the village of Kultala. The bowls have been donated to this autumn’s “Empty Bowl” event, where they will be exhibited together with other donated bowls.

The Empty Bowl event celebrates its 15th anniversary this year and will take place during Helsinki Design Week in the Helsinki Cathedral crypt on 16 September 2017.
