Helsinki Design Week producer Luovi Productions will exhibit artists’ imaginary summer houses in Fiskars Village. The “Fiskars Summer House” exhibition is to present nine designers’ views of the summer homes of admired Finnish artists.

“Design has always drawn inspiration from art, and every designer can surely name an artist whose work and lifestyle have inspired them. We like to play with the idea of these artists’ summer homes and how they could look,” explains exhibition producer Moona Tikka.

Exhibition architecture will be created by Joanna Laajisto and its visual approach by Double Happiness. Laajisto is to create a large summer home inside the Granary building of Fiskars Village, the rooms of which are divided among designers and their favourite artists.

“Summer, Fiskars and summer houses – is there a better combination for an exhibition? My great passion towards the cabin life and everything related to it makes this a dream project to me. The idea is to present the views of nine designers on how the artists’ summer houses could look like. I will divide the exhibition in to different functions of a summer house, from bedroom to sauna, so it will be interesting to see, how each designer will realize the spaces appointed to them”, Laajisto says.

Interiors will feature Finnish design by well- and less known designers. Exhibition items will also be on sale, and the venue will host various events during the summer.

“We are very excited to cooperate with Luovi,” says Kari Selkälä, property director at Fiskars Village. “Thanks to the collaboration we’ll be able to attract more design-enthusiastic audience from all over the world to Fiskars.”

Fiskars Summer House exhibition opens in the Granary of Fiskars Village 16 June 2018. For more information, please contact executive producer Moona Tikka, moona.tikka(at)helsinkidesignweek.com / +358 50 358 8786.
