Discussion: An Attractive and Livable Helsinki City Centre

The vitality of the city centre is being developed in collaboration with the local business community and with residents. Ten design agencies have also been asked to weigh in on the matter and to compose different ideas on how to increase the coziness and functionality of the city. Data-Driven Design Day

Organized for the second time this year by HDW, Data-Driven Design Day will offer views and practical tips in utilizing data through design. This year’s theme is Seamless Experience. One of the main talking points of the day will be design’s impact on the multi-channelled world where communications come through various devices and services.

Open Studios 2018

Open Studios gives you an entrance to the most interesting work spaces in Helsinki and we can expect inspiring encounters and a versatile programme for two whole nights.

On Thursday the 13th, architect offices curated by Museum of Finnish Architecture keep their doors open from 5 pm to 8 pm, and the tour operated by Mushrooming starts at the office Profit Interior, address Snellmaninkatu 27 and ends at ark-byroo, address Kustaankatu 3.

Guided Tour in Aalto University’s New Väre Building

Aalto University organizes guided tours to the new Väre building, which opens to the public in the beginning of September 2018 at the Otaniemi Campus in Espoo. The most central building on campus is a simple and clear unit that nevertheless enables encounters in versatile premises and multi-discipline exchange.

Habitare

Finland’s biggest furniture, design and interior decoration Habitare both inspires and offers experiences and ideas on interior decoration, and on the functionality and look of homes and other spaces. The fair highlights the ideas and works by a new generation of designers and sparks discussion. The Habitare 2018 theme of ‘Roots’ will bring out and highlight the authenticity and personality of things. Entrance fee 16€ / 10€.

Uusix Goes Innovation Picnic

Uusix is building a picnic place at Suvilahti with the previous year’s HDW materials. At the picnic you can participate in building a living sculpture, or you can just relax and play games. We are holding a workshop for innovating new products and materials for those who are interested in participating in a design process, sustainability or the reduction of waste. This event has unfortunately been cancelled.
