60 Years of Maison Louis Carré – A Photographic Exhibition
Finlandia Hall celebrates the 60th anniversary of Maison Louis Carré, designed by the Alvar Aalto, showcasing photographs by artist Elina Brotherus and architectural photographer Jari Jetsonen. Built in 1959 in the small village of Bazoches-sur-Guyonne, Maison Louis Carré is among the most iconic private houses that Aalto designed and constitutes his only work located in France. The exhibition tells about the history and details of Aalto’s masterpiece through contemporary art.

Matti Klenell ja Iittala – 10 years of dialogue with Iittala
The Iittala & Arabia Design Centre celebrates the ten-year collaboration of designer and artist Matti Klenell and Iittala. An exhibition dedicated to the Swedish designer’s work now opens at the design centre. Visitors have the chance to meet Klenell on Saturday 16 November from 1 to 2 pm. The event celebrates the three-year anniversary of the Iittala & Arabia Design Centre and the start of the Christmas season. Ginger bread cookies and glogg will be served.

The Kaj Franck Design Prize Exhibition of 2019
This year the Kaj Franck Design Prize was given to the team of six partners at the design agency Aivan: Jarkko Jämsén, Minka Koukkunen, Aleksi Kuokka, Antti Mäkelä, Aki Suvanto and Saku Sysiö. Aivan’s work is showcased in an exhibition at the Design Museum. The multidisciplinary design agency’s essential areas of business include brand and spatial design, product design and strategic design.

Ark Rex Film Festival
The architectural documentary and film festival Ark Rex celebrates the 100-year-old Bauhaus movement. This event to be held at the Amos Rex museum is based on the Bauhaus manifest created by architect Walter Gropius and on the world-famous Bauhaus legacy. In addition to introductory documentaries about Bauhaus and its productions, the festival features drama films and some topical phenomena, challenges and problems of the built environment. The programme also includes informative, in-depth presentations.

Xmas Design Market WeeGee
Exhibition centre WeeGee and Helsinki Design Week produce an inspiring Christmas-time design event, presenting 50 design companies and designers and their products. The workshops at the WeeGee museums allow people to create with their own hands, and restaurant Lumière WeeGee caters to Christmassy tastes with a French twist. The We Jazz DJs take care of the music. Free entrance to the WeeGee museums and events throughout the weekend.

Ornamo Design Christmas 2019
Ornamo’s Design Christmas event brings Finnish design and artwork professionals together at the Cable Factory on the Independence Day and the following weekend. There’ll be design items, arts and crafts, clothing, textiles, jewellery, small series items and graphic art prints. Free entrance.

TOKYO Christmas Market
The yearly TOKYO Christmas Market is being held at the Kiasma museum of modern art. Art and design students of the Aalto University put their awesome products on sale here. The sales items include graphic art prints, comics, jewellery, glass art, ceramics, dishware, fabrics, lamps, magnets, clothing and accessories, photography, toys, pins, gingerbread houses and lots of other things. The market is held in the museum lobby, and entrance is free, no need to buy a ticket to the museum.
