Christmas markets have been organized in Helsinki for decades. Weekly selected the most interesting events for those aching to do their shopping at seasonal stalls. Most events require that you present a covid certificate and wear a mask. Event information keeps updating, so you’ll find the latest info always at the organizers’ websites.
Design Christmas at Ornamo
A sales event for designers and craft artists to meet them in person and obtain information about the origin, materials and making of their products. The selection includes ceramics, glass, clothing, accessories, jewellery and graphic art. High quality slow fashion brands are included, such as Frenn, Marita Huurinainen, Katri Niskanen and Lumi Accessories. Fair trade and social responsibility are represented by Mifuko and Inkuto, whose brand philosophy is to support the employment of women in vulnerable conditions in Kenya and Ghana, in particular.

Raaka Rå Christmas
Ceramics studio Raaka Rå in the district of Punavuori is organizing seasonal sale events during the three weekends before Christmas. There is a wide selection of utility ceramics in various colours, and the selection is being complemented with new products each week. At Raaka Rå, you can also buy ElmaB’s bee products and Reka Kiraly’s unique ink drawings and print scarves.

Christmas Market at Teurastamo
Organized for the 8th time, this Christmas Market will take over not only the Kellohalli but the entire Teurastamo district, with a selection ranging from toys to accessories to Nordic knives and potholders. The restaurant has season’s delicacies to offer. The organizers would like the visitors to wear masks indoors. The Market’s opening hours have been extended to avoid crowds.

Xmas Garage
Run by My o My, this sales pool carries a selection of items from more than 100 companies. This year, we can shop around the Kämp Gallery in three different locations. The Xmas Garage selection consists of decorations and cards, toys, delicacies, books and jewellery. Weekly recommends Wildkind Kids’ clothing, SEES Company’s biodegradable detergents, Pelago’s biking gear and Anna’s chocolate factory treats.

Fashion Community Helsinki Xmas Sale
On the 2nd floor of Kämp Garden, Weekly’s favourite fashion collective Fashion Community Helsinki offers Christmas presents and inspiration. They carry a carefully selected mix of past and future collections – and lease the items, too! Helsingin Kalsaritehdas, known for its leisurewear made of recycled materials and surplus fabrics, is included in this selection.

Helsinki Christmas Market “Tuomaan markkinat”
The traditional Christmas Market by the City of Helsinki is held on the Market Square this year. Full of seasonal atmosphere, this market offers carousel rides and delicacies, including glogg, pasties and pies, sweets and gingerbread cookies. The novelty of the year is a crisp/chip bar. You can do your shopping at a beeswax candle stall or explore the many varieties of woollen socks and ceramics available.

Arabia Art Department bazaar
The traditional Christmas bazaar of the Arabia Art Department Society opens doors to ceramicists’ studios and provides an excellent opportunity to buy unique art gifts!

Lokal & Fiskars Onoma at Glasshouse
The Onoma collective of craft and other artists and designers from Fiskars has arrived in the city centre. The “winter wonderland” event Joulumaa by Glasshouse Helsinki & Lokal presents works and items by more than 20 Onoma artists on the 2nd floor of the Glasshouse building. The 1st floor is taken over by the Lokal Christmas store that carries the season’s surprises in a classic, carefully selected, sustainable and delicious style.
