ARTISTS

MIKKO JOENSUU (LIVE)
Finnish “pop”  icon Mikko Joensuu has hit the carte blanche button and come up with an angular view into his craft. Known from his solo efforts as well the band Joensuu 1685, the award winning singer-songwriter debuted his shoegazey, almost berlin-school esque kosmisch approach at Solstice 2025, an alternative music  festival held on top of Rukatunturi in northern Finland. The saga continues at Helsinki Design Night.

SAMULI KEMPPI (LIVE)
It’s nearly impossible to talk about Techno in Finland without Samuli’s name rising to the top. Together with Juho Kusti, he ran Deep Space Helsinki — the city’s longest-standing and deepest Techno night and radio show. He’s been releasing music for almost 20 years now (and still keeps going), his sounds finding a home on esteemed labels such as Luke Slater’s Mote-Evolver, Ostgut Ton, Prologue (home of Voices From The Lake), and M_REC LTD.

Precise sound design, evolving textures, a cerebral experience. Samuli Kemppi: a real national treasure.

ADAM TICKLE
World renowned Mancunian designer and artistic director Adam Tickle’s taste comes through the music as well: expertly sourced and with attention to detail. As the founder of Helsinki Playground, a cultural hub for creatives and creative-orientated people, Adam is as much about community as he is about design — how do you bring people together through the experiential niceties of life.

JOSHI
Art world multi-talent Joshi has made a name for himself in the design world with accolades from all over. One prominent Finnish brand comes to mind first. Joshi likes to lay low. But his music definitely aims high. The tastebuds in this guy seem to never tire. Within the soundscape he’s moved by anything from ambient tropes to punk, italo, minimal (in many senses of the term), dub, and whatnot. A full course meal if you will.

MALIN NYQVIST
Malin Nyqvist is a quirky one: TV-writing? No sweat. Author? Nailed it. Director of motion pictures? Flowing like water. Former member of a hit blog era electronic music outfit? It’s in there. And of course, a DJ with immaculate taste. Anything from Baile and Latin American club music, to Dancehall, Dubstep, Breakbeat and way beyond. Of course, when quieter passages are needed, quieter passages are delivered. What’s in common? A devotion to craft from start to finish.

DENZEL
Long-time nightlifer Denzel can be found, if not at his home club Post Bar, or his other homebase Solstice Festival, locked in the studio creating dance floor “ear-worms”. With over 15 years of experience in the game, he hasn’t seen it all, but he’s seen plenty. And that can be heard coming through the speakers.

The event is organised in collaboration with Moomin Arabia.
