Reshape your relationship with your mother through service design methods. Mothers shape lives. But now it’s time for the relationship between a mother and an adult child to be the object of design. Do you have a mother? Or perhaps you are already a mother to adult children yourself?
Join us during Helsinki Design Week for a workshop that is part of Jonna Mannila’s Master’s thesis project. In this workshop, we will do a brief, light-hearted exercise and look at the relationship between an adult child and their mother through the lens of service design.
This workshop is for anyone who has a mother or who has adult children of their own. The age limit is 18. Registration instructions will be posted here approximately two weeks before the event.The age limit for the workshop is 18. Please note that the workshop will be conducted in Finnish only.
The workshop is part of the Master’s thesis project I’M YOUR MOTHER – Motherhood as a Service by Jonna Mannila (Master of Arts), a service design student at Metropolia University of Applied Sciences. In her thesis, Jonna Mannila explores motherhood as a service within the framework of service design.
Can the "service" provided by a mother be improved through design? How would the relationship between an adult child and a mother change if this previously organically formed service were redesigned together with the user? And how should one view the service if it terminates without you cancelling the contract? Where can you file a complaint? What about alternative mother-services – who could provide them?
