Description
Aarikka. Since 1954.
Aarikka was born from Kaija. A mischievous, unruly rebel with grit, Aarikka by name, roots in Somero, Finland. Since the beginning, it has been about delights and everyday indulgences, decorative utility items, practical ornaments, wood, round shapes, clear lines and the beauty of detail. Joy and unruliness – looking the canon in the eye and saying that the world here is round like Aarikka, and why not go against the grain for a change.

Aarikka is founded on its strong roots. Roots of unruliness and vitality. Growing stronger by the years, from generation to generation. Because time has no effect on timeless ones.

Blau Interior

Welcome to enjoy Finnish art and design at our showroom in Eira!

The joint exhibition at Blau Showroom brings together the works of ceramics artisan Teppo Honkala and visual artist Mirja Ilkka, where nature and human experience find profound expression. The exhibition merges craftsmanship and art, inviting the viewer to explore the depths and layers of both materials and the mind.

Ceramics artisan Teppo Honkala is known for his unique functional and decorative pieces, which reflect his deep respect for traditional craftsmanship. He creates his works in his workshop in Klaukkala, using a kick wheel and wood-fired kiln he built himself. These tools give his creations a distinctive, lively texture and firing surface that embody the power of nature and earthy tones, inviting exploration of the materials’ true essence.

The art of Helsinki-based artist Mirja Ilkka blends the beauty of nature with the depths of human experience. Her works draw inspiration from the diversity of nature and the layers of life, revealing hidden details and emotions that often go unnoticed. Ilkka’s creative process involves gradually layering on canvas, which gives her pieces a captivating depth and invites the viewer to immerse themselves in the dialogue between nature and humanity.

The exhibition is open to everyone 11.-15.9.2024, on weekdays 10-18 and weekend 10-17.

Timberwise Showroom

Timberwise x Hanna Heino solo art exhibition

Finnish ceramic artist Hanna Heino’s only art exhibition in Finland will be held at the Timberwise Showroom in Helsinki. Hanna’s works have been recognized in prestigious international galleries in different cities, such as Paris, Brussels, Milan and New York. In 2024, she was awarded the 5th Officine Saffi Award and received the Casa Wabi Residency Special Award. Her works adorn valuable private and public collections worldwide, such as the Royal Mansour Hotel in Casablanca and Cartier’s New York Mansion. At Hotel Maria in Helsinki you can find both Hanna’s works and Timberwise floors.

Hanna Heino is a contemporary artist from Finland known for her delicate form language that honours the beauty and subtle nuances of nature and its textures, shapes and depth. Her pieces take us on a voyage to a tranquil universe which cannot be easily put into words. Clay is the medium in all her work, but the ancient working techniques between pieces vary significantly. Her processes are an accumulation of emotions, experiences and pure intuition lighting up a sense of naturalness and effortless approachability. Flowing vibrant forms and alteration in textures is the essence of her work; by playing around with these elements, she brings subtle shimmers of aliveness and variation to her art.

Timberwise is honored to be able to work together with Hanna, and to have her beautiful artworks displayed in its showroom. As natural materials, Timberwise’s wood and Hanna’s clay works are a beautiful and calming combination, which we hope as many people as possible can enjoy.

Exhibition is open to everyone 13 September – 6 November, 2024 within the opening hours of the showroom.
