Touch of Humanity – Textile Art Exhibition
Mon–Fri 4–8 PM
Sat–Sun 12–6 PM
Location: Galleria Kolmas Kerros
“Touch of Humanity” is an exhibition series that explores the unfinished nature and multi-layered complexity of humanity. The exhibition’s theme is examined from multiple perspectives, focusing on topics such as body image, identity, our relationship with nature, feminism, intergenerational continuity, and humanity’s relationship with artificial intelligence. Through the medium of textile art, the artists explore the traces humanity leaves on us and our environment.
The artists’ own experiences have shaped this exhibition, which takes a stand on the uniqueness and significance of human-created art in today’s world. At the heart of this process-oriented approach has been slow, hands-on craftsmanship.
The exhibition features works by 14 artists, in which various materials, techniques, and forms of expression intersect with textiles. The works utilize techniques such as jacquard weaving, crochet, rya technique, various mixed media, and video. These diverse works open up perspectives on personal experiences as well as shared human questions.
The exhibition, created by Metropolia’s textile design students, is based on a universal perspective on humanity, with a target audience of the oncoming other. The exhibition was created as part of the International Project series.
