Congratulations Helsinki Design Weekly!
Beloved design publication has reached a fine age: not hundred years but hundred newsletters. The weekly issue was sent to design friends for the hundredth time today.
The online design publication got started two years ago, and since the beginning, it has ambitiously addressed design in and outside Finland.
The first articles featured Samuji expanding from fashion to lifestyle, the finalists of the Guggenheim architectural competition, and a journey to the moon. And what was the “snackis” i.e. hot topic of the Stockholm Design Week? Icelandic and Finnish designers’ shared flat on Regeringsgatan where they danced, cried and laughed.
Even more international
Weekly was born from a persisting need of a design discussion platform that would also present Finnish design – and it has surpassed all expectations. Over the years Weekly has achieved a position as a medium that explores current design issues in an honest and entertaining style.
Weekly is published in two languages, Finnish and English, and is a window to Finnish design fans all around the world. Readers include design professionals and early adopters, urban dwellers and design enthusiasts.
The news and feature articles are written by established Finnish and foreign reporters, most of whom have whole-heartedly been part of the development from the outset. Numerous columnists, photographers, video journalists, translators and other creative professionals have made their contribution to constitute the number one design medium in Finland.
Reader survey conducted during this year’s Helsinki Design Week festival brought amazing results. More than half of the respondents read Helsinki Design Weekly, and this half thinks the publication is visually attractive (90%), well written (92%), of high quality (93%), versatile (93%) and interesting per content (95%). We accept readers’ ideas for the content throughout the year.
To celebrate, we are launching two new article series. Weekly Abroadmeets the top names in Finnish design who are building their careers around the world, and Weekly Sneak Peek publishes novelties by designers and brands.
