Q&A Tram Talks: Ompeluseura

The tram discussion addresses changes in employment and predictions for the future. How will we earn our salary in the future? Is employment going to be completely fragmented? Must everyone be able to do coding? Are robotics taking over our jobs or enabling idle creativity? Will work follow us everywhere, and will there be any privacy? Is generation Y ever going to retire? Discussion themes and statements are collected by the popular Ompeluseura (“Sewing club”) work life network active on social media.

Its admin Milla Halme, also communications manager at SOSTE ry, moderates the discussion. Participants are Armi Murto, organizational adviser for the Federation of Finnish Enterprises and Miia Savaspuro from Ellun kanat. The event is part of an event series taking place on HRT’s “culture tram” touring the city districts while functioning as an arena for the discussions.

HDW HOP: Tikku

Set up on Keskuskatu, Tikku (‘stick’) is a demonstration of dense urban housing and Finnish wooden construction. It has been designed by Marco Casagrande, whose baseline is to implement a micro-size apartment house on just one parking slot in just one night. It takes a stand on the evolving needs of urban planning and housing. As cities become more densely populated, we must find more agile ways to build and housing solutions to live in. The city provides the services that people need so that they can make a home in a smaller environment than before.

Tikku presents Nordic design through home decoration created by BoConsept. The second floor of Tikku is used to build a work space of the future together with Sponda. The installation is part of the HDW HOP City Installations.
