The Chinese Design Intelligence Award is calling for global entries. The last submission date is already in a week’s time, on 19 January. One of last year’s prize winners was Programmer and Children’s Author Linda Liukas.

With its total prize sum of close to one million euros, the Design Intelligence Award is China’s largest design competition. Founded and hosted by the China Academy of Art, the competition aims at accelerating the process from design to industry.

DIA is now being organized for the third time. The competition concentrates yearly on different current themes. This year the competition will focus on three issues: the upgrading of traditional industries, the development of intelligent manufacturing and solutions for an ageing society.

The CEO of Helsinki Design Week Kari Korkman, who acted as a jury member of DIA 2017, urges Finnish designers to participate in the competition:

”This is an unique experience. The organizers are serious about the event and are in it for the long run. DIA is one of the best organized competitions I have been involved with.”

Last year DIA received more than 2700 pieces of work from 39 different countries. Out of the prize winners two were Finnish: Linda Liukas was awarded the DIA Gold with her book Hello Ruby, and RePack won the DIA Innovation Award.
