The Cable Factory will be taken over again by sellers of beautiful, lasting, high-quality goods as the Design Market enlivens the building from 5th to 6th September 2020. Helsinki Design Week’s theme Commitment Matters will be carried out at the event as the vendors share what they are committed to in their production.
The Design Market will also host the Little Market, the Print Market and the Vinyl Market.
“The Design Market has been an inalienable part of Helsinki Design Week from the very beginning. Over the past 16 years a lot has happened, and events need to be constantly developed. The Design Market’s criteria will remain; high-quality, long-lasting furniture will be sold at affordable prices, and products that have been left in storage for one reason or another will find new homes. The era of unnecessary stuff is forever gone, which challenges the industry to create better products, reasonably and sustainably,” says Helsinki Design Week’s Programme Director Anni Korkman.
The Design Market’s new producer Ilona Jämsen wants to create a curated event that includes versatile vendors and a renewed side programme. ”My goal is that the visitors will be able to see only sustainable actors wherever they look. I am excited about challenging myself and others to consider commitment in production.”
