Helsinki is a growing and fascinating city for creative professionals!

Open Studios invites citizens, partners, customers, students and everyone interested in the creative fields to explore the world of design studios, offices, processes, creators and creative work in a laid-back, inspiring atmosphere. The event is to reveal how and where creative work is done.

How does multidisciplinary cooperation work?
What is it like to live in a design city that keeps changing?

Open Studios will be organized on two Fridays during Helsinki Design Week:

The first event will kick off the festival on Friday 6 September as the studios in the districts of Eira, Punavuori, Ullanlinna and Kamppi will open their doors to visitors.

The second Open Studios event will take place on Friday 13 September in the districts of Hakaniemi, Kallio, Sörnäinen, Vallila and East Helsinki. The main venue of the festival, Paasivuorenkatu 3, is located in the same area.

Helsinki Design Week recommends hybrid commuting by bike and metro.

Siru Tuomisto & Viivi Varesvuo - Imaginary Art World is inspiring, joyous presentation of art and surprising objects. Welcome to experience Siru’s and Viivi’s imaginary world - the ‘happy-land’ of art. Come and meet the artists and their art! Refreshments will be served.
Veneentekijäntie 12 is a studio community of 11 designers located in Lauttasaari. They work extensively in product and spatial design, collaborating with both domestic and international companies. The designers working in the space are Studio Kaksikko, Samuli Helavuo, Ville Auvinen, Aino Michelsen, Reeta Ek, Aleksi Peltonen, Pinja Koskelin, Janne Pärssinen, Henri Judin, and Nicolas Robertson.

Ark-byroo is a multidisciplinary architectural firm specialised in renovation. Their team consists of architects and interior architects, architectural history researchers, archaeologists and BIM experts. Ark-byroo is a leading specialist in the cultural environment, developing building, property development and urban planning projects. Their starting point is the study of existing buildings, which provides an understanding of their characteristics, potential and challenges. In order to create unique architectural concepts the center of their design process is to take into account the local significance and characteristics of sites.

Balmuir is a Finnish lifestyle brand established in 2007, the selection consists of exclusive fashion and home décor collections. High quality natural materials are the core of the collection. Balmuir products are being designed in Helsinki, Siltasaari 10, and they have been rewarded a Finnish from Design sign.
Heikkiläntie 7 office building houses various companies in fields such as consulting, IT, sales, and media within premises operated by Monoma. Monoma Finland is a Dutch-based company that provides temporary housing and workspace solutions in vacant properties. The event is organized in collaboration with Mushrooming.fi, a coworking community.
Minestrone workshop is a wood workshop established by five designers in Helsinki. Minestrone mixes up staple woodworking approaches with uncommon aesthetics for spaces, furniture and objects for homes, stirring up sleepy design conventions. Minestrone was founded in 2024 by Hemmo Honkonen, Paul Flanders, Didi NG Wing Yin, Tatu Laakso and Carlo Raymann.
