Design Museum: Kirsti Rantanen
The autumn season at Design Museum includes an extensive showing of work by the Finnish textile designer and pioneer of fibre art Kirsti Rantanen (born 1930). She has taught a whole
generation of textile designers and artists, and her own work has been of trailblazing importance.

Helsinki City Museum: Smell
What does the city smell like? When the museum asked its customer panel in March 2015 what Helsinki smells like, it received more than 200 smell memories in response. The volume and thoroughness of responses indicate how strong smell-related recollections are. The leading role is played by a Helsinki-related scent, changing weekly throughout the autumn and the winter.

Helsinki Art Museum: Yayoi Kusama – In Infinity
Dots and colours to counter-attack autumn blues. Yayoi Kusama’s In Infinity at HAM. Zing to your soul from dotty and colorful fireworks by multi-talented Kusama who has also been called a pop icon. This retrospective involves all forms of art from drawings and paintings to sculpture, spatial art, performances, and happenings.

EMMA: In Search Of the Present
On its anniversary year 2016, EMMA is launching a new exhibition concept, “In Search Of the Present”. Its first collection forms the main exhibition of the year. In the future, EMMA’s objective is to produce a review of the theme every 3 to 4 years and to provide related programme between the exhibitions. The first exhibition produced according to the new concept presents international modern art from some 20 artists.

Kiasma: Mona Hatoum
Mona Hatoum’s work presents us with a world characterized by conflict and contradictions. Her first solo exhibition in Finland gives an overview of her work from the late-‘70s to the present. It gathers together works in media as varied as performance, video, photography, installation, sculpture and works on paper.

Kiasma: After the Turmoil – Meeri Koutaniemi & Arman Alizad
After the Turmoil is an exhibition about survival. It is about people who have endured great suffering yet who refuse to play the role of the victim. Instead, they have become proactive change-makers in their community.
The photographs and installations by Meeri Koutaniemi displayed in three rooms on this floor portray violence targeted at women in India and Kenya and refugees in Thailand and other parts of the world.

Amos Anderson Art Museum: Zoltán Popovits
A quarter of a century has passed since sculptor Zoltán Popovits’s (b. 1940) last retrospective exhibition at the Helsinki Art Museum, and much has happened since. The current exhibition, which will spread over the first and sixth floors of the Amos Anderson Art Museum as well as outside the museum, will present the work of this multi-faceted artist spanning half a century.

Ateneum: Amedeo Modigliani
Modigliani, who died on the verge of fame at the early age of 35, is one of the most interesting artists in modern art today. The works on display constitute the largest Modigliani exhibition in the Nordic countries to date. The artist is known especially for his elegant paintings of women, which have influenced the worlds of visual art and fashion.
